“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” — Albert Einstein
A Bee-Focused, South African Collective
AfriHive is a South African, bee-focused enterprise dedicated to ethical bee removal, relocation, hive management, and pollination support. We work with property owners, businesses, and communities to address bee-related situations responsibly — always with respect for both people and pollinators.
We are not exterminators.
We are facilitators of balance.
Our work is rooted in the understanding that bees are not intruders or pests. They are essential contributors to ecosystems, food security, and biodiversity. When bees come into close contact with human spaces, the goal is not conflict — it is coexistence.
Finding bees where you didn’t expect them can be unsettling.
Whether it’s a swarm resting nearby or a hive forming in a space shared with people, the first instinct is often uncertainty — What do I do? Who do I call? Will this become a problem?
At AfriHive Collective (Pty) Ltd, we exist to bring calm, clarity, and ethical solutions to those moments.
Bees will always try to find the best spot for their new home. This wooden shed in Durban North needed to have the floorboards lifted before we could rescue the colony and save the gardener from being stung.
It's not uncommon for bees to find a way into the middle of walls - they will chew away at the brickwork and find a safe place to build their colony. Unfortunately, the damage to the wall is extensive with this giant colony.
A Kloof family got a real surprise when they went out to use their built-in braai. Fuzzy, stripey fellows had moved in and made their home, neatly tucked away and protected from the elements.
